Victim Assistance Programs And Resources
This directory will help you identify various sources of assistance for family and friends who live out of state and feel the need for such services, but are unfamiliar with resources in their area. In Western Massachusetts, copies of the directory are available in the Hampden County Victim/Witness Library, located in the District Attorney's Office in Springfield, and in The Daniel Larson Memorial Library to Enhance Victim Services, located in the Hampshire County District Attorney's Office in Northampton.  If you live outside the Hampden or Hampshire County areas, check with your advocate to see if a copy might be available in your local District Attorney's Office. If you prefer to purchase your own copy of the directory, you may contact NOVA directly at (202) 232-6682.
The County Based Victim/Witness Programs section on the next page lists the Directors of Victim/Witness Programs in counties across the state. Other sections include the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of state offices providing information on applying for victim compensation, as well as other basic information and services that may be relevant to you as a crime victim. Also among the listings are the names of homicide bereavement programs administered by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA) and funded by the Victims Of Crime Act, most of which have specific homicide support groups. I hope you will find these listings helpful, and that you will not hesitate to contact any of those listed whom you feel might be of service to you.
