| With appropriate documentation, the Foundation provides the following services: |
| Workshops aimed at educating the public, the courts, members of the judicial system, law enforcement officials and health care providers of issues of concern to homicide survivors. The Foundation also works directly with the above-mentioned individuals to find solutions to such concerns. Adopt-A-Family program. In 1998 the Foundation expanded its services to include an Adopt-A-Family Program. The "adoption" services include providing a holiday meal and Christmas gifts to a family that has been directly affected by homicide. Depending on the circumstances, it may also include the purchase of winter coats and boots for the children. The Foundation works in collaboration with the Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin County District Attorneys' Offices and the Springfield Child Guidance Clinic's Post Homicide Family Support Program to identify families with children in which one of the children or one of the parents has been murdered, or in cases where the primary care parent has been murdered and the children are now in the custody of grandparents or other guardians. |
